PIP-47 l Parallel Visual Identity Upgrade

Summary:

The proposal aims to introduce and upgrade the Parallel visual identity, in line with ongoing protocol updates.

Context:

In line with the major protocol upgrades currently underway (PRL, tokenomics, V3) we’re proposing to upgrade the Parallel Protocol visual identity. This upgrade is purely visual and does not include a change of protocol name - Parallel remains Parallel.

This upgrade is motivated by the necessity to upgrade the protocol’s branding, bringing a clear, structured and professional brand image.

Cooper Labs, in collaboration with MOM, a web3 design & development agency, worked together to achieve this upgrade.

Note: The associated costs of upgrading the protocol’s visual identity have been fully covered by Cooper Labs as part of the service providing contract with DAO. No additional costs are required.

Rationale:

The general idea was to move away from classic fintech branding towards something more distinctive. We settled on a retro Futuristic Parallel world concept.

I. Parallel Logo:

The logo itself doesn’t mean anything. We took lines as a reference to ‘parallel’, the shape of a circle as a reference to ‘world’ and put together a pattern that reminds of retro vibes.

II. Typefaces:

To support the concept, we refined the typography with a focus on serif fonts for titles and non-serif fonts for texts. Coupled with serif fonts, the logo references the retro aesthetic even further.

III. Stablecoins Logos:

Each token maintains its distinctive currency identifier while the unified purple color palette establishes brand recognition, maintaining excellent visibility in both dark & light environments.

IV. Scalable Design System:

We’ve kept the protocol’s emblematic purple color, but given it a fresh look. This system ensures that the visual identity is consistent and powerful across various use cases, thanks to colors, icons, illustrations and typefaces styles.

V. Illustrations:

The illustrations themselves create the final look and combine retro, futuristic and parallel worlds vibes. More illustrations can be found in the Brand Kit.

VI. Brand Guidelines:

Branding assets will be available on a dedicated website, currently being implemented. The design prototype of the website can be found here.

VII. Landing Page:

We decided to create a landing page that stands out from the rest. So instead of a traditional long-read, we went in the direction of interactivity. Each section is presented as a separate page, navigation between them is done with scroll or bar on the right. The landing page is currently being implemented, however the design prototype of the can be found here.

Means:

  • Human Resources: Cooper Labs will update logos and brand assets on all social networks, blogs, etc.
  • Treasury Resources: There are no DAO treasury resources needed as costs are included in the Cooper Labs service providing.

Technical implementation:

Cooper Labs will:

  • Update logos and brand assets on all social networks, blogs, etc.
  • Deploy a new landing page
  • Deploy a brand guidelines page

I really like the design & idea behind the design very unique and it stands out :fire:.

The only thing is that the Font „Editorial New“ is very hard to read in the Headlines on the Landing page. Nothing that must be change, but maybe we just use this Font for Single words and stick to the other Font for Headlines and text to read.

Great execution of the idea, also the Landing page very clean and conversion optimized

I’ve looked at it twice. It somewhat resembles the Forbes logo and fonts.

After I realized this, I kept seeing a professional vibe. And lots of opportunity!!
